Wardrobe-changing-project

The last six months I have been thinking.. A lot.. About clothes..
I don't really know how it started but suddenly I found myself going through my wardrobe several times. Thinking about materials, cuts, overall what I had in there. I think I gave away a good third of my wardrobes content during this time..
Now I haven't bought more than two or three new garments these last six months.

And then the new year came and got me thinking about clothes again. What would I like to achieve clothes-wise this year, and how do I want to continue with building a wardrobe that makes me happy?

Then I stumbled upon this great blogpost a few days ago and just warmed to this idea and thought why not try it?

I would call myself a pretty simple girl considering clothes. I'm most comfortable in jeans and a simple sweater/ shirt/cardigan and so on. I do occasionally enjoy wearing a dress, or a skirt but still, It's not my everyday choice.
For so many years I've wanted to get better at thrifting, and buying second hand, but there never seems to be anything for me..

One of my favorite sweaters, that my mom wore when she was younger, about 20-25 years ago. It's  been around for long, and it shows. I really need to mend it so I can start wearing it again!

Five rules to this years wardrobe-changing-challenge:

- Budget is 300 euro
- 8 new bought  pieces of clothing are allowed into the wardrobe, of which at least 4 has to be thrifted
- I do get to make clothes, but the material used for these needs to come from the clothing budget
- It's okay to receive clothes as gifts from others
- Intimates are okay to buy, as well as 2 new pair of tights because I only have one pair right now, and they have a hole in them so I figure that has to be okay!

Old jeans turned into a sitting pillow for a stool and lovely yarn waiting to be turned into something even lovelier!

I'm looking forward to see how this project goes and how my wardrobe will change during 2015.

New years dreams

For the last few weeks, and these first days of 2015 I've been thinking about what I would like to achieve this year. I decided not to promise anything, because then I will only be disappointed if It does not happen for some reason, so I decided to just write down some things I would like to learn, spend more time doing and work towards.

I would like to:

- Work even more towards making those homesteading dreams real. That includes getting more economical.

- I would like for my knitting skills to develop even more than last year.

- I want to spend more time outdoors, in the woods, in nature, in the garden...

- I also want to make more from scratch. Food of course. I plan on spending january trying out bread recipes i like, and then I´d like to never have store-bought bread at home. But I would also like to start making stuff like candles, bodycreams, lipgloss and so on.

- This year I think I need to spend more time with myself as well. I have always been what you can call a lone wolf, but these past years my life has been filled with so much that I think I hardly have had any time to myself. Therefor I want to make more room for myself this year.

Basically I want this year to be filled with learning new things, progressing on the ones I already know and just fill the year with kindness and love.

Thrift store finds

The other day, just before the new years, I went to a thrift store with my dad and sister. Usually I always find some stuff, but this time there were only a pair of wooden knitting needles that were going home with me. But then, just as I was going towards the register i saw this cast iron frying pan.

I have been wanting one of these for a long time now, because they are really good and they last a lifetime if taken care of properly, but they are also pretty expensive. So can you imagine how happy I was finding one of these at the thrift store. A good clean and It will be like new.

I´m always on the lookout for good cast iron kitchen ware. I want good utensils in the kitchen that will last me a lifetime and that are not full of different plastics and what not.

New Years eve

Last day of the year. It´s been a calm one. Turkey for dinner with the family, and then playing games, eating cake and waiting for the new year together. This has been an emotional year, with a lot of happenings, both good and bad. But I´m thankful for them all, because they have made me grow as a person.

Now I´m looking forward to the new year, and hoping it will bring me closer to my goals and dreams.

Wishing all a lovely end of the year, and an amazing year to come!

Welcome

This picture pretty much sums up some of the biggest joys in my life currently, knitting, writing, coffee and chocolate of course, always chocolate.

For a very long time now I have been thinking about creating a blog. I really enjoy reading others blogs and many times have I been thinking about creating my own little space to share stuff I do and love and want and dream of. My own little creative space filled with hopes and dreams. Now finally, together with the new year coming in just three days I´m starting this little page, as a fresh start. Hoping that all of you who find your way here will enjoy your stay!
